Today: MLW Prospect Taylor Green
One of Milwaukee's last draft-and-follow picks in 2005/2006, third baseman Taylor 'Red' Green rose from low-level prospectdom to become on of the Crew's top prospects last year.
A Canadian who went to school in California, Green used a 2006 stint in rookie ball to get his pro feet wet, then broke out at Sally League West Virginia. He hit .327/.406/.442 over 111 games there (with 14 home runs in 397 ABs) and won the Brewers' Minor League Player of the Year award for 2007.

A disciplined, professional hitter who will wait out the best pitch, Green has a quick, line drive swing that should lead to a high batting average. His on-base skills overall merit a top-of-order consideration, but his below-average speed means he's likely looking a two or five hole position at his peak.
On defense, Green is adequate at third but needs to improve his footwork or face an outfield demotion. His arm strength is average but he's accurate and makes few throwing errors. He's been commended for his hard work and 'plus head', as he has baseball smarts and instincts far beyond his years. He's a team-focused player who should be a benefit in any clubhouse.
Green's stock had to take a hit with the rise of Mat Gamel this season, but he's still performing very well at high-A Brevard County, hitting exactly .300 as the season nears its end, which means he should be one of the top two or three position prospects in the Milwaukee stable as 2009 opens.
